I’ve been drawing since I was a little kid. I’ve always loved comics and cartoons. I used to cut every Peanuts out of the Sunday Chronicle and paste them into a scrapbook. Later, I discovered comic books… especially the forbidden Creepy and Eerie issues. That led to Marvel comics where I eagerly collected works from Jack Kirby, Jim Starlin and Frank Brunner. When I got a little older, I discovered underground comics and the work of R. Crumb and others. I began drawing in pen and ink and dealing with the constantly clogging rapidograph. I’ve drawn for books, magazines as well as creating various comics both in print and online. My recurring creative muse is Beaky.
My interest in photography also came early when I got an old Brownie Hawkeye camera and a Summer class on photography, where the instructor taught us about light and shape. I’m a big fan of Ansel Adams and nature photography. My obsession with sunsets began when I moved to New Mexico and experienced the wonderful expanse and light here. The advent of digital photography has made it that much easier to take photos and that much harder to whittle them down to a manageable number. I also have a new found interest in time lapse photography to record the movement of the clouds and stars.
