I used to cut every Peanuts out of the Sunday Chronicle and paste them all into a scrapbook. Later, I discovered comic books… especially the forbidden Creepy and Eerie issues. That led to Marvel comics where I eagerly collected works from Jack Kirby, Jim Starlin and Frank Brunner. Later, I discovered underground comics and the work of R. Crumb and others. I am also an admirer of the artwork of Pamela Colman Smith who drew the Waite-Rider tarot deck. I began drawing in pen and ink along with the constantly clogging rapidograph pens. I’ve drawn for books, magazines as well as creating various comics both in print and online. My recurring creative muse is Beaky.
My interest in photography also came early when I got an old Brownie Hawkeye camera and a Summer class on photography, where the instructor taught us about light and shape. I’m a big fan of Ansel Adams and nature photography. My obsession with sunsets began when I moved to New Mexico and experienced the wonderful expanse and light here. I’m working in time lapse photography to record the movement of the clouds and stars. The advent of digital photography has made it that much easier to take photos and that much harder to whittle them down to a manageable number.
About this blog
I started this blog as a compendium of my work largely as a result of turning 60 and also to store my work somewhere other than on social media sites. I hope that you enjoy my art, that if you are interested in using any you will contact me and finally that you will respect my copyright and not use any work here without my permission.
