A few pics from our walk about Canyon Road. Pretty empty on Canyon. Hopefully there were lots more folks at the Plaza.

Feast Day celebration 8_11_19

Sunday morning, Joan and I attended the mass for Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Porciúnculam at the Pecos National Historical Park… followed by Jemez Pueblo dancers. The church was built after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 (which also occured on August 11th) and largely through the labor of the ancestors of the current dancers. Pecos Pueblo was abandoned in 1838 when the remaining inhabitants moved to Jemez to avoid Comanche raiders..

The Feast Day is a celebration of the return of the holy relic to the original pueblo… a promise upheld by the local Catholic church. If I got my history straight.

Lightning timelapse 8_9_19

A wild night of lightning that I had to cut short on filming due to the rain getting heavier. Not sure why the camera went yellow.

Storm cloud timelapse 8_6_19

Storm clouds building off to the East. This is about 34 minutes reduced down to 29 seconds. NOAA indicated this weather was caused by atmospheric instability, heavy moisture and lack of steering currents. Prime ingredients for localized flooding.
