This fiery sunset reminded me of the the 2 huge New Mexico fires… the Cerro Grande in 2000 and the Las Conchas eleven years later. Both happened around this time and in the area in the distant Jemez Mt.s where the sun is setting. Over 200,000 acres went up in smoke.

I love watching the creeks as the water bubbles and swirls on its way downstream. Here are some closer looks at the Winsor and Big Tesuque creeks from our last hike in the mountains.
