Cranes and Snow Geese 1_19_24

We drove down South to the Ladd S. Gorden Waterfowl Complex in Bernardo, NM to see the sandhill cranes and snow geese wintering there. A lot of birds, maybe due to the cold up North. The geese made a couple of mass take-offs which is always a pleasure to watch (even if the camera was shaky!). Also saw a Blackhawk chopper refueling operation pass overhead.

Snow, sunset and birds 1_15_24

Finally warming up from the bitter cold that’s been hanging around. Going on our usual walks proved challenging but we bundled up and slogged on. The first photo shows the sandhill cranes that passed right over us. The timelapse is the last storm moving through and the last video is a loud raven at the local shoe store.
