I’ve been laid up by a nasty bug and haven’t had much energy for photos. The regular subjects are always available though and easy to catch from my chair! The birds are more numerous around the feeders and baths so I think the Harrier has been finding meals elsewhere lately.
Her humor has brought me so much happiness and the news of her passing is heavy. So many late nights of my early teens were spent watching SCTV and laughing at the wonderful sketches she played in. From Best in Show to Schitt’s Creek, she was a light of comedy.

The deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti; along with the deaths and trauma of those in detention, the attacks on citizens and the climate of fear, are inexcusable and a sign of how far our government has fallen into fascism. But there is hope with the protests and backlash. Here are two interesting articles for our times along with what you can do to help. Oh… and call your representatives and tell them to abolish ICE.
The first link is an article by Radley Balko comparing the current situation in Minnesota to the occupation of Boston by the British prior to the Revolutionary War.
I’ve been sitting out with the camera trying to photograph the elusive pair of Harriers that have been regularly flying our greenbelt (and scaring the birds away from our feeders!). I barely noticed one hiding in a tree while the other flew nearby. Today, I got to watch as one sat on a snag and preened and stretched. And there are always coyotes that pass by! More descriptions under each photo.
There are 2 harriers that are hunting up and down the greenbelt. Today, one landed near a coyote who turned and took an interest in the bird. Luckily it flew off before becoming lunch! The evening sunset gave the snow on the Sangres a nice crimson hue.
